The "New Style" Template

After playing around with the classic Versus City template, I decided to create a new base template using a small part of it. The result of this is what I originally dubbed the "New Style" templates since at the time, doing non-arcade panel style templates was new for me. This is also the first design I did that was created specifically as a base for future designs.

The template itself borrows part of the "slashed stripe" of the Versus City, using only the larger center/right hand portion of it leaving a space for character art (and the hole for the stick) on the left. This is topped off with a smaller stripe on top with similar Versus City style slashes. The original art itself is pretty plain - as previously mentioned, this is a base skin to be used for making other skins.

 Simple but versatile

This simplicity however means that it's quite easy to create variants of the template. The following is a selection of variants of the "New Style" template that I've made.  First one up is this Juri skin, one of three I mead after the initial announcement of Super Street Fighter IV (and the first three new characters).  Up top, I added a fanmade sprite by SRK's Steamboy33 who did a series of SFIV characters as SFIII style sprites. A special feature of this is the info bar with her original bio (including some interesting info that was taken out almost immediately from the official site).

She likes what?

Next up is this T.Hawk piece, also made when SSFIV was first announced as he was the second new character announced for that game. As an additional touch, I added his girlfriend Juli (from Street Fighter Alpha 3) in the background.

Comes with a special discount, half off on slots.

Next is DeeJay, who was revealed shortly after the preceeding two were.

Now with 100% more big grin.

The following Chun Li piece features art by Udon's Omar Dogan that he did for the Street Fighter Legend: Chun Li comic. I sent him a pic of the art after making it and happily, he enjoyed the piece.

Way better than the movie

For this Cammy piece, I tried to do something different by adding a slight camouflage theme.

The spot where you rest your right palm looks might comfy.

Now for a change of pace from all the Street Fighter themed variants, here's one of Tsubaki from BlazBlue: Continuum Shift. To further differentiate the piece, I placed her emblem from the game in the background.

The wheel of fate is turning...

The next two pieces are based on art I found at that well known image board Danbooru. Both images were pretty unique and adapting them for use on the template was quite a challenge. First is Ibuki from the SFIII series/SSIV. I gave the piece a sepia tint to match the background of the art on the original image. I also used a different font for her name to match the dated look of the skin.

No Ibuki, being on the stick will not help you meet boys.

I used a similar desaturated look when creating stick art based on this Cammy piece, albeit not to the same extent as the Ibuki one.

Yes, it uses the same screenshot as the other Cammy stick. It was comfortable.

The final piece here is my most recent one as of writing this and features new character Rikako from the indie/freeware fighting game, Vanguard Princess.

Might be a bit more comfy on the left side this time.

Off course, these are just a few of the many variants of the "New Style" template, some of which aren't even by me (Rico Suave's Abel stick which was used heavily in East Coast Throwdown 2 comes to mind). I'm pretty sure that even more skins based on this template will be made in the future.
